“I’ve done all I can, it hurts not to be a champion” came out the shocking revelation from the Argentina Captain Lionel Messi after losing in the Copa Finals. In an interview Messi confessed to a reporter in New Jersey that “For me the national team is over”. From what he said it was clear that the Argentina Skipper has been too affected with the Finals. He goes down further to say “I’m taking this decision for me and for the many people who want this. I’ve tried so hard, but I’m leaving without managing it.”

Whether his decision to retire from the National team is justified or is it an aftereffect fluke as a repercussion is yet to be discovered but his almost deep seated remorse somewhere convinces his verdict on retirement.
Messi broke into tears after loosing another final match:
The blazing of the penalty at the last round of Final, was way too harsh a stroke for the star player to take in. More because it had been a long year since his 2008 gold medal win in the Beijing Olympics, that he had won any big International Title to the present year of 2016. Since making his first debut in the International Team the player was making his 112th appearance in this year’s Copa. This year the teams win was more needed as, even in the last year Argentina lost against Chile. This match was a much awaited one. Winning this match would have brought a chance to end the drought of Argentina, not winning any International honour, that carried on for a span of 23 years.
In the interview Messi was seen absolutely devoid of any sort of hope and said “It’s been four finals, it’s not meant for me. I tried. It was the thing I wanted the most, but I couldn’t get it, so I think it’s over.”
